The article titled “Could Pet Custody Court be Coming to a Family Court Near You?” explains that in Pennsylvania divorces, pets are treated as personal property: one spouse gets the pet, the other does not. However, that may soon change as a PA House Bill has been introduced that, if passed into law, would require a judge in family court to award custody of the family pet.
